So me and some mates are going to play D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) regularly now (well that’s the plan) I’ve never played a real campaign, all I did was playing for one afternoon with pre-made characters. But this time the DM (dungeon master) had us all create our own characters. (We are playing 4th edition) btw.

I’m playing a Tiefling a ‘new’ race in 4th edition:
The story of the humans’ ascension into the Tiefling race is called the story of Emperor Bael Turath. The Empire of Bael Turath was one of the greatest in all of humankind’s history. In the Empire the noble class (Kings, Lords, Princes etc.) were completely devoted to the preservation of their power. They were so obsessed with power and glory that they vowed to even give up their humanity for it. Bael Turath made many promises to the nobles of his lands and word reached a realm called the Nine Hells located around the Astral Sea. People of the Nine Hells began having dreams or visions of the promises that Emperor Bael Turath made. They believed these visions would help keep the Emperor and the nobles in power. The visions spoke of an evil month long ritual that each ruling house of the Emperor must participate in to secure their power forever. Some of the houses refused to take part in the ritual because it promoted terrible deeds that all of the participants of all the houses must do. The houses that refused were destroyed and the ritual commenced. During the ritual devils began to appear and many houses and nobles made pacts with them. These Pacts not only bound the human nobles but also their descendants forever. Thus began the race known as the Tiefling.
And I am also playing a new class the warlord: link to the wiki page.
So allot of new stuff for me (as I’ve said never played seriously) and allot of new stuff for our DM.
Name
Deadulus first name is to remind him of his roots as a Tiefling, and to not make the same mistake again. It’s a mixture of Demonic and loss (opposite of gain). His last name is Arnsun, which is fairly simple to explain. It stands for sun of Arn. Arn was a famous warlock that founded his family a few hundred years ago.
Aspects
Deadulus Arnsun is a pretty old, big Tiefling Man, a Tactical Warlord, he is aged 43, 1.89m and worships the god Loun, of knowledge, tactics and teaching. This suits him, because he is a great teacher and tactician. He wears plate armour, a light shield, and a long sword. He also wears a medallion with a portrait of his wife engraved into it, and a bottle of whine. (And of course a standard adventurers kit).
Goals
-To adventure and explorer, doing nothing makes him restless, al tough he has no problem waiting for the right moment to strike in combat situations.
-To live up to the fame his last name implies.
-To teach other people. This is why he worships Loun.
Combat Style
Deadulus is a tactician, he will command his men to position themselves correctly before going in to combat. He favours exploiting the skills of his party by making enemies more vulnerable to attack, by for example knocking them down with his shield. He is very Intelligent and Charismatic, this makes sure his party gives everything they got for him.
History
His family was once looked at as a very powerful house at the time of Deadulus’ great great great grandfather Arn, which gave his name to this family. but the suns of Arn where all plagued by mediocrity. Many of his suns didn’t have the willpower or the skills to live up to Arn’s powers, the pressure was high. Arn was a ruthless and powerful warlock, but he was also just and fair, neither good or evil in any fight, he judged by the sideline and entered the fight in the last moments, giving the team he joined victory.
Deadulus was burdened by Arn’s name from the very start, and from the burden of his families mediocrity. But unlike others he had the willpower to live on to the expectations that his family name implies. Because most people didn’t believe in ‘yet another failing Arnsun’ it took Deadulus long before he got the fame he deserved, but he never gave up.
Deadulus mostly fought around his around big but isolated farm village that had a tendency to attract Orcs and other Giant’s. His grandfather learned him Giant is he could understand the Orcish screaming and device more clever tactics with this added information.
At the age of 23 Deadulus was a trusted warlord for the farmers, no-one denied his skill, tactics and abilities and he became the leader of the village’s defences. But because of the village’s isolation it took many years before his skill was really recognized. This happened when an old noble Tiefling named Ikaresh came to the village to judge one of the farmers that killed his neighbour so he could take his farm aswell. Ikaresh, being very fair always judged himself, even at his old age.
Ikaresh caravan was overrun about 3 miles away from the village when Ikaresh was traveling back home. Altough Ikaresh had brought an entire regiment to protect him the Orc had the caravan pinned down and the regiment was losing ground fast.
A scout quickly informed Deadulus of that he heared the horns of Ikaresh cavern. Deadulus thought for a moment and only took a small part of his regiment to save Ikaresh, but the told his second in command to ready all soldiers and have them take defensive positions. With his knowledge of the Orcs and superior tactical insight Deadulus commanded his troops to overrun the Orcs at the west-side of the caravan so he could quickly get to Ikaresh. Ikaresh was still in his wagon, to old to fight or run, and his horses where shot by the first Orcs that had surprised his troops. Deadulus ordered 3 man to draw the wagon while he had his other man make the west-side clear again. But the wagon wasn’t going fast enough, so Deadulus joined the three man, drawing the wagon with all his strength. Shouting commands to his own man, and whatever man where left of Ikaresh regiment.
The Orcs where so surprised by this plan and counter attack, they figured Deadulus would come at them full strength so that they could attack the city. But now this small group of men was getting away with their ransom money. The Orcs pursued Deadulus, but it was already to late. Deadulus and his man where well on their way to the village.
In the meantime the other Orc forces where trying to attack the city, but they had not counted on the presence of the rest of Deadulus man and where quickly taken care of.
Ikaresh was amazed by Deadulus, he had for seen the Orcs plan, but still had managed to save him, with even minimum losses of the man under his command.
A few weeks later Ikaresh returned, now with a big enough group to take care of the Orcs for once and for all. But he didn’t went to Orcs at once, he first stopped at the village and asked for Deadulus to take command of this new army and to get the job done.
Deadulus worked for Ikaresh for more than 15 years and earned his perks and hero status, maybe slower than others, a tactical victory might not be as good for table conversations as slaying 10 Orcs with bare hands, as Arn did, but Deadulus made a name for himself.
Deadulus even found a Anna, a human women, who didn’t find him frightening at all, he married her. At age 40 Ikaresh asked Deadulus to become a governor, Deadulus already had plans to settle down with his wife, so he accepted. But he couldn’t get used to this new life, he was born to command and to adventure. He gave up his governor position to Ikaresh dislike. And started hiking along the world. He only felt guilty to one person, Anna. Anna never demanded an explanation, even if she only saw him only a few weeks per year. At his 43th birthday Deadulus told his wife he was going to find an adventurers group he could teach and command. His wife cried softly at this news, afraid of losing Deadulus for good. But he vowed that he would visit her at least once per year, and that he would write all his adventures in a diary, if something would happen to him, he would make sure se got it. She gave him an amulet with her portrait that would remind him of her. And did not speak to him until he left. She then told him that she would always be faithful to him and make sure the house was always ready to receive him.
Deadulus asked one of his closest friends, Aknur to always take care of her. He gave half of his gathered fortune to his wife. He used some of the other half to buy supplies and gave the remains to Aknur.
Then he left…

Well…
Well I hope I can remember this history and make my character act logically. And I hope I can be a tactician
. Oh well I might put some updates on the stories he will live trough once we start playing.
